We, 15 people, got a bus + driver to enjoy the Oktoberst at Walburg. I'm from Germany myself and have been to Walburg several times. The food is pretty authentic and the beer is yummy. The Biergarten is great and the Walburg Boys always make me "feel like home". The Oktoberfest, however, was a huge disappointment. Food and beer were great, although the lines were ridiculous and had the staff been trained a little better, this could have been a much more pleasant experience for the guests. Unfortunately, food and beer were the only two things that reminded me of Oktoberfest. Sadly, I didn't hear 1 German song, instead, the band was playiong Jimmy Buffet and the like - very German. There was also an Oomba band that played while the real band took a break (unfortunately, they took a lot and very long breaks) that played songs like "God bless America". If you want to experience an Oktoberfest-like environment, go to Walburg on any weekend except the "Oktoberfest weekends".
This is a reply from the Walburg Restaurant to our "German Girl Visitor" I think you will find all festivals have long lines. Our staff is culinary trained and most of them have been here for many years and do know what their doing. Our German band takes request as we are German/American. As far as "God bless America" We support our troops!
